Who We Are

History

Formally known as ARLA or the Wairarapa Adult learning Centre, Literacy Wairarapa has been assisting Adult Learners in the Wairarapa since 1975. Currently our offices are housed in REAP House, Masterton but you may have also found us at The Cottage - 1990, 323 Queen Street - 1998, or at the Wairarapa Community Centre, 140 Dixon Street - 2002.  We moved into our current offices at REAP House in 2010 and have settled into being part of this education hub where we can provide group classes or 1 to 1 or small group sessions.

Kaupapa

Literacy Wairarapa has a commitment to ensuring that adults in the Wairarapa who wish to improve their literacy, numeracy and a wide range of other skills are able to do so in an environment that encourages and supports them.

Literacy Wairarapa is student-centred organisation where the student is encouraged to set their own goals and to work towards achieving these goals in a way suitable to them. The governance, management, tutors and students work as a partnership that respects each others different cultural and personal values.
